Volunteers
Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest volunteer programs aim to provide access
to a public art gallery for secondary and tertiary students and members of the general
public in order to:
-
Provide an understanding of the Gallerys role within the community;
-
Provide an opportunity for a practical understanding of how such a facility functions;
-
Provide an opportunity for individuals to build up their personal work experience in
this field, across a breadth of areas; and
Establish a consistent commitment and participation in the
Friends of the Penrith Regional Gallery.
In addition to individuals seeking to volunteer during their leisure time,
the Gallery accepts high school students for Work Experience programs, and tertiary
students from various institutions and courses (including Fine Arts, Museum Studies, Art
Education and Marketing) for Internship programs.
There are a great many benefits to volunteering, not the least of which
include meeting new people, gaining new skills and knowledge, and the knowledge and
satisfaction that you are part of a significant and important cultural service and venue
for the local community and beyond. Other benefits include helping others and contributing
to success of community, personal development, family involvement and activity,
fulfilment
and self esteem, exciting new experiences, a sense of belonging, a sense of responsibility
and, above all, fun and enjoyment!
Volunteer experiences at the Gallery can be divided into the following
major areas:
