The Bowerbird drawings are studies of objects in colour and monochrome explore perspective and the roles of inclusion and exclusion in composition. Sitting on stark white backgrounds, objects appear isolated and disconnected from the world they were sourced from.
The Coal Sack was created when the artist coughed up spit on to a piece of paper after accidentally inhaling a quantity of coal dust. The title relates to astronomy; The Coal Sack is a dark nebula situated in close proximity to the Southern Cross. This work alludes to Australian nationalism and pride, and the violence associated with intolerance.
