No Right Turn Artist Statement
Worms Head explores the sculptural ability of drawing to describe a form as it might appear at an angle in space and in light. The resulting form is membranous, unfolded and twisted. It is a light head instead of a dense one which is formed by a constellation of pockets and cones.
The facial apparition presented in Worms Head is a good example of the common thread appearing throughout my recent work. Heads and figures made from light materials are attached together to form representations in space. The presence I see in my mind is translated as a sculpture from which I make a drawing. This then becomes the basis for another sculpture, and so on. Delusions of what I see behind my eyes inform my practice by motivating me to present these imagined mind artefacts as definitive forms.
