Volunteers

The Gallery’s volunteer programs provide professional development opportunities for people interested in working in the arts. Volunteers gain an understanding of the Gallery’s role and function within the community and practical experience in the operation of a regional gallery. Secondary and tertiary art students and members of the general public who have studied art are eligible to apply.

Volunteer experiences at the Gallery can be divided into the following major areas:
• exhibitions
• conservation
• education and workshop programs
• public programs and hospitality
• research
• administration.

In addition to being fun and enjoyable, volunteering offers countless benefits, including the opportunity to meet new people, gain new skills and knowledge, participate in the programs of a regional cultural organisation, help others, contribute to the vibrancy and cohesion of the local community, and broaden your connection to other people interested in art.

To apply for a general volunteer position download the volunteer application form and post it to the Gallery or email it to Naomi McCarthy, Manager – Education and Public Programs nmccarthy@penrith.nsw.gov.au.

If you are a high school student follow your school policy on volunteering, which is available from your careers advisor.

If you are a tertiary student phone Naomi McCarthy, Manager – Education and Public Programs on (02) 4735 1100 to discuss current internship positions before sending your university paperwork to the Gallery.
